Week of fun #1

Summertime just wouldn't be the same if we didn't have my niece visit at least once.  This summer we get to have her for 2 weeks!  WOOHOO:)  Here is a picture overload of our first fun week!

Our Aunt Maria had a litter of 8 BEAUTIFUL puppies and sweet S loved them all!  I had to almost carry her to the car because she didn't want to leave them!

My best friend's little girl came to visit too!  The "BOBBIE" jeep was a hit!

Birthday dinner with the family!  Our birthdays are 4 days apart so we like to celebrate together!

Yay for some Jack Rogers!

The t-shirt she picked out for me...precious!

The girl loves shoes just like her Auntie!  We came out of the store with only one!  Can't believe that!

Breakfast of champions...the awful Waffle!

The teacher in me LOVES to read to this sweetie...bedtime stories are the best!

We went and saw BRAVE!  Cute, cute movie!

Can you tell how much we love this girl???
Can't wait for week #2:)

Where were my tennis shoes when I needed them?

So this morning turned out to be an eventful one!!! Our two horses got out and decided to try out for the Kentucky Derby...
Since my husband broke his leg, I had to do the majority of the running/chasing/rounding up in my precious "Cleopatra" shoes! Let's just say it was a sight!!! I prayed so hard that they would be easy to catch and the Lord answered my prayer after about 30 minutes of ugly running over terraces and jumping fences. The worst part was when they ran into the very busy road!! My heart seriously went into my throat...
Jeremy's cousin did come help but it was J, the horse whisperer himself that led them back to their stall on his four wheeler! They are in timeout as we speak! Lol:).

Turn the radio on...and listen to the music!!

Linking up with Amanda's Turn the Music Up Linky Party at Teaching Maddeness...I also love to play music in my classroom.  From day one, we are ROCKING out in room 202.  Starting each day with a little good morning music puts my kiddos in the best moods.  One of my favorites is Good Morning Exercises for Kids !  I love to see them sing while they are doing their morning work.  Sometimes I even have to pull a marker out for my microphone and chime in!
Throughout the day we sing different songs that go along with our 2nd grade standards.  Here is my top 10 list of my favs:
1.  Miss Jenny songs...she has a cd for 6+1 writing traits, math, science, and phonics
2.  All Kidz Bop cds
3. Do the Brain Wave...great brain exercises to do with students before tests, to wind down, or to get pumped up
4.  Dr. Jean cds
5.  Jewel's- The Merry Go Round
6.  Dole's 5 A Day...awesome songs for nutrition unit
7.  Hobby Lobby's instrumental music...they are $9.99 and with the 40% off coupon, you can't beat that deal!
8.  The Laurie Berkner Band...cute sing along songs
9. The new BRAVE soundtrack
10.  United Streaming has a great selection of music
-If you do a search for a concept that you are teaching...look on the left hand side and you will see an song section.  There are a TONS of cute songs.  We love the "Parts of Speech Slide" and many, many more!

I'll be guest blogging for Amanda next week and will include some more FUN music that I use in my classroom:)

I'm back!!!

Ok folks...get ready for the LONGEST post ever since I haven't been good at blogging since September of last year.  I'm really going to try to stay with it this time.  My sweet friend Amanda, who teaches just a few doors down from me created a precious new blog... Teaching Maddeness! She really inspired me to start blogging again.  Her new blog is so stinking cute...she amazes me all the time!  I'm going to guest blog for her next week while she's on vacay... so that'll be fun!

Let's see where I should begin...
The past few weeks have been a little crazy. Several of our family members have not been well and my sweet hubby broke his ankle in a horse accident.  He's a team roper and for those that don't know much about that sport...the header ropes the horns of a steer and the heeler (which is what my husband does) ropes the feet.  The steer tripped which caused the horse to fall.  Needless to stay J's ankle/fibula was broken.  Surgery was done (pins and plates-see x-ray) and now we are on the road to recovery.  We've been doing LOTS of therapy at home and with a therapist so that he can be back to 100% very soon.  Since he's been down and out...I have been able to do several things around the house that I've had on my summer list.  I know that things happen for a reason and God timed this one perfectly.  Thank goodness for summer vacation which allows me to be home to help the injured.  Here are a few things that I've worked on so far this summer...

Ready to celebrate the 4th of July with this fun wreath...idea straight from Pinterest.

Cute little stool that my parents found on an antique run...everything looks better turquoise, huh?

Canvases to go in my classroom...I'm thrilled with how these turned out!

Recently I have gotten super excited about working on changing some things in my classroom.  I want to paint several bookcases and a stool so those will be done as soon as I can get into the building.  Let's just say Pinterest keeps my brain going...I've found so many cute ideas recently that I MUST do!  Hopefully I can accomplish them all and post when I finish!

This weekend was fun... J was able to get out a little bit and that made him happy.  He's always traveling to rodeos/ropings, hunting, fishing, etc. that being confined to the couch stinks for him.
We did make it to a roping event to just "watch", not participate in and for me...I was able to go to a great concert last night!  (Thompson Square, Darius Rucker, and Lady Antebellum)  I love a good concert and especially love the girls I went with! This morning we were able to go to church for the first time in a month!  YAY!  I've missed it so much and it was so nice to be back in the house of the Lord.

This coming week will be awesome, I am sure.  A sweet little red head is coming to Camp Auntie (that's what she calls me!).  We have so much fun when our niece comes to town.  This year J will get to spend LOTS of time with her as well since he will be home.  We're planning on going to the movies, picking from the garden, shopping a little, making a few crafts, and more...it's always a joy to have her and we make the most of every single minute.

Until next time...I promise it won't be FOREVER, like last time!  HA:)
